I have travelled many journeys in my lifetime. Starting with a music career, a marriage, then a successful modeling career followed by two more marriages, not forgetting a couple of hot love affairs, I finally found myself on the road to discovery when I started practicing yoga many years ago.
My Story
Through my extensive 3 year training in Los Angeles I became a member of
the international Association of Yoga Therapists based on the teachings of
Pantanjali. I taught yoga at many prestigious health clubs in London and was
so successful I decided to open my own retreat in the sunshine.
At age 54 I moved to the Canary Islands. Holistic Holidays was one of the
first retreats in early 2000. It was a hugely successful venture with extensive
media coverage in all the major newspapers and magazines In the UK. A
major fall, breaking a hip and leg was one of the most challenging setbacks
of my life 9 years ago. I had to retire from running the retreats but I still offer
Counseling and Therapeutic yoga on a private basis at Secret Chill. My
intention is to run beginners writing classes in the future. As a trained
counselor this is by far the best way to treat all those unlocked boxes in the
attic! Then once revealed through writing, the results are
mind blowing and you are finally able to to throw away the key.
I discovered writing three years ago with the help and guidance of my friend
and fellow yoga teacher, Will Donnelly. The perception of my life’s journey
started to change. I decided to write a book about the many journeys I have
travelled during my life so far. The learnings keep on coming through the
highs, but often through the lows, discovering new beginnings through
hardship. I am just completing my autobiography now, called “No Shortcuts
to Paradise” I could not have acquired the deep insights that have ensued
without my constant companion John, Teddy. He held all my secrets and
insecurities from the age of 3 years old. Responsible for my ability to survive
loneliness, pain and moving forward with the ability to believe in myself. I
now realize“ The Magical Other” never really existed. I was looking for that
“missing part”and finally found it in
myself. What a breakthrough!
I will be posting some life lessons learned over 8 decades which will include
my silent partner Teddy’s overview of “ A Life Worth Living”
Little jewels of wisdom we have managed to accrue together!! I hope some
of these precious gems will hold something for all age groups living on the
planet right now..
